HOPE Mission International was founded in 2005 by Wilfrid Decossard and Elisabeth Edouard.  Discovering they shared a common passion for the Haitian people, Wilfrid and Elisabeth began to assemble a team of like-minded believers.  God has blessed them by adding to their Board a team of faithful and wise advisors.

HOPE began working in the community of Duchity, Haiti which is approximately 6 hours west of Port-au-Prince.  Wilfrid is originally from this community.  In 2005, Wilfrid and Elisabeth traveled to Duchity and met with community members (pastors, school administrators, teachers and politicians).  The goal of this meeting was to hear what community felt were their greatest needs.  Duchity is a community with many evangelical churches, public and private schools as well as a medical clinic.  The community expressed that their needs were two-fold:  increased education for their students, teachers and spiritual leaders as well as leadership development.  Out of this, the concept of a library and community center was birthed.

Since 2005, HOPE has funded the building of the HOPE Community Library.  We are very pleased that the majority of the work has been completed by local community members not only ensuring their commitment to the project but providing incomes to many families.  HOPE has sought to share the hope of Christ with the Duchity community in many ways.  We are careful to observe where God is already at work and then join Him in His program.
