Summer Ministry Highlights!

We were beyond blessed with two AMAZING ministry teams!  Both jumped right in and loved on our community.  They challenged us to gain fresh perspectives on the ministry and people we have been called too.  Thank you for entrusting this experience to us.  We were blessed to walk alongside you.  Please pray for these 13 individuals as they continue to process all that they experienced and continue to seek God’s direction in their next steps.

Our first team, from Eastford Baptist Church, ran a daily VBS attened by 140 children!  They brought creative stories, songs, games and crafts which delighted the children.  During “down time”, it was not a stretch to find the team outside playing alongside the children on our property.  They really took advantage of opportunities to love on our kids.  While we were not able to complete as much of the work projects this week as we would have liked, the team laid the foundation for the second group to jump right in and finish all projects.  More than anything, we enjoyed the time hearing their impressions and considering ways they can continue to partner with us into the future.  Thank you Eastford!

Our second team was from Calvary Chapel along with 3 additional friends.  This team experience a different side of Haiti from the get-go!  After arriving at the airport and loading up the vehicles, they were caught in over 6 hours of traffic!  This was a first for us and everyone hung in there.  Once arriving in Duchity, they got right to work building kitchen shelves, bookshelves and finishing the benches.  What workers!  By week’s end, 11 bookshelves were built and 10 benches/desks were built and painted.  They also ran a daily VBS and hosted a special party for all of our sponsored children.  What a great time loving on our children!  Thank you for the gift of your time and energy!  We are excited to see how God continues to use you in Haiti!

Team from Calvary Chapel, Canterbury CT along with friends from NYC, CT and RI!

We are excited that school will be starting in September- please pray for Silvance, our National Sponsorship Coordinator, as he is busy gathering uniforms, supplies and making school arrangements for our 50+ sponsored children.  This is a great time to sign on and help us support more local families through education!

Computer training classes will also be starting again in the fall with new students.  Weekly Bible studies and Film Outreach will also continue.  Join us in praying for God’s direction, wisdom and discernment as we consider next steps involving the library itself and other potential ministries.

Enjoy a few more pictures from this summer’s teams!

Consider joining us this December for another ministry trip to Duchity!  It is a great time to go (a bit cooler!).  Perhaps come as a family during the holiday break!  Next summer is also wide open for teams.  Talk with your friends and church family- we’d love to work with you to design a custom trip that meets our needs and coincides with God’s call for you.  Contact us below if you’re interested!

More books headed to Haiti!

Praising God for another shipment of books ready to head to Haiti for the HOPE Community Library.

Perhaps you have some books you’d like to donate?  We can use any French/Creole/Spanish books as well as easy-to-read English Children’s books.  Bilingual dictionaries and ESL materials are excellent too!  Also, materials that teachers can use such as picture books, posters and other educational aids are a great addition.

If you are interested in helping, contact info@hopemissioninternational.org and we’ll work out the details with you.

Thanks for your support!

July 2011 Ministry Team

We had a tremendous time in Haiti this summer!  God put together a great team with hearts for service!  Wilfrid led a team of local men to paint the building inside and out.  What a task!  But they worked long, hard days and with joyful spirits!  It was exciting to see the completed building at the end of the week.  The HOPE Library is completed as far as a work project.  Now we are in the process of raising funds to outfit it with furniture and the materials needed for computer training and the library.HOPE building painting complete with our team of workers

Rose, Crystal and Elisabeth led three days of Vacation Bible School for the children.  Over 130 children attended!  Rose was an exceptional story teller and led the children in many songs.  We also played games, had a small craft and watched a special Jesus movie just for kids in their heart language of Creole.  It was encouraging to see the children gain truth throughout the week and especially to see many of our sponsored children there.

Vacation Bible School

In the evening, we used a variety of video presentations to outreach into the community.  Over 200 attended each evening for showing of various Christian films and Creole Christian music videos.  After viewing the Jesus Film in Creole, a number came forward to receive Jesus as their personal Savior.

Another highlight was visiting with our sponsored children and delivering gifts, cards and pictures to them.  Many of our children wrote letters back to their sponsors!  Elisabeth was able to take the opportunity to remind them of how God was providing for their needs and how much He loved them.

We are looking forward to returning to Haiti- potentially in December/January and next summer.  We’d love for you to join us!
