Haiti Earthquake- Saturday, 8/14/2021
** Update- we have received reports that the HOPE Community Center has sustained some damage as well as many homes in the community.
Haiti experienced a 7.0 Earthquake this morning. It was felt throughout the country but damage is being reported in the Jeremie and Les Cayes region. Duchity sits between those cities. We await word on the status of our community and volunteers. Please pray for those that may be trapped or injured. Many concrete buildings have collapsed. Pray that medical personnel will be able to quickly assess and treat. Most importantly, may Christ be close to the broken and scared. This will certainly bring back fear and trauma from the 2010 Earthquake.
Summer Ministry Team
Our Summer Ministry Team will be heading to Duchity this Sunday, July 9th – July 15th! The team will be sharing in a pastor’s conference, ladies craft/devotional time and daily Vacation Bible School. They will also be touring the recent homes that HOPE rebuilt due to Hurricane Matthew last fall. Thank you to many generous supporters who enabled us to help these families as well as repair the HOPE Community Building.
The team will be delivering books for the local pastors that we received from The Gospel Coalition as well as Solar Powered “Messengers” from InTouch Ministries which have the Bible and Sermons in both Creole/English. The team will also deliver 200+ family paks of 11 different types of seeds from HOPE Seeds. These will help replenish the gardens that were destroyed last fall due to the Hurricane. The team will visit with many of our sponsored children. Thanks to the generosity of Calvary Chapel in Canterbury, CT and Bible Christian Church in Ellicott, CO, we were able to purchase 20 new laptops. Due to dead laptops and no solar power (also due to the hurricane), we have not been able to run our Computer Training Program this past year. Now, we will be able to start this powerful program in the fall. Please pray that all the laptops enter the country safely and without issue.
We look forward to sharing updates from the team and reporting on their trip. Thank you for your continued support and prayers!

More Aid Reaching Duchity
After lots of red tape, emails, phone calls and prayer- 90 sets of tarps, blankets and hygiene kits made their way to the Community Center today for distribution. Many grateful people tonight- and roofs covered from future rain!
We are excited that over $1500 was raised at the Benefit Concert last night. Thank you to everyone who came- your support and encouragement means so much! Special thanks to Jonas Woods for a wonderful concert and to The Purple Cat Winery for allowing us the space for the evening! Philanthropy- the food was delicious too! Thank you!
We are excited that rebuilding/repair efforts will begin soon on the homes of our staff members. More details to come!
The needs are great- but our God is greater!
Thank you to many who have given sacrificially to help the people of Duchity! You gifts are enabling us to provide for basic needs and rebuilding materials. We are also networking to bring aid to the village from larger NGO sources. There is red tape- but God is moving.
Please continue to pray, share the need and give. So many still have not received help.
This Saturday a benefit concert will be held in Chepachet, RI. Please join us and bring a friend!
Aid heading to Duchity!
Today Pastor Zacharie and his team traveled to Les Cayes to pick up rice, peas and oil provided by partners in ministry. Tonight- many are going to bed with full bellies! More aid is on the way!
We are making lots of connections with other people serving Haiti. It’s amazing to watch how God is networking groups from around the country to partner. All in the name of Jesus.
There is much to do!
Please share the needs and give to help rebuild our community.

Please take a moment and view these videos of Duchity and HOPE’s Project
Your donations and prayers are needed!
– please pray food and water arrive
– for Pastor Zacharie as he oversees 45 families (170 people) taking refuge on our property
– for funding to help rebuild homes and lives
– that God is honored by the response of the believers in Duchity and many come to know Him personally
Hurricane Matthew- Urgent Need
We have finally had contact with Duchity! Two friends traveled from Port-au-Prince to check on our village.
They said every house is destroyed or damaged. The rain was so bad that foundations are even damaged.
Gardens are gone. 90% of animals are lost. Local churches and schools are damaged. The road is broken but cars can pass with difficulty.
BUT- Praise the LORD- the HOPE Library is not damaged! It is being used as a refuge center and 45 families are there. 4 people loss their lives and there are injuries.
Our village needs food, water, rebuilding materials…
Please- consider a donation for Duchity. 100% will go to help our village.

Laptops Needed
Each fall we begin our Computer Skills Training Program with a new class of students. We have been blessed to have close to 100 students complete this year-long training. We began with used/refurbished laptops, that have served us well, but are now unusable. We are in need of new laptops (24) in order for this important program to continue.
Recently, the children who attended the Vacation Bible School in Canterbury CT, raised over $600 for this project! Thank you kids!
Would you consider joining them and helping to contribute? Perhaps your Sunday school class, Bible Study or small group would sponsor 1 computer? If you are interested in helping meet this need, please let us know. Donations can be made via Paypal or mailed directly.
Thank You!
