Heading to Haiti- December

God has been doing some amazing things over the past few weeks!  Due to the generosity of His people, we have been able to purchase 6 laptops for the HOPE Computer Training Center as well as software, printer, and internet access.  It’s hard to imagine what these advancements will mean to the people within our community!  We are thrilled to offer these resources to the local pastors, church leaders, teachers and students!  Thank you to so many who have given sacrificially- we are humbled and blessed.

Wilfrid will be traveling to Haiti December 18th to begin the process of setting up the computer program.  This will include arranging internet access and interviewing potential computer teachers.  There is much to arrange and many people to connect with.  Please pray for the following:

– fair business dealings as internet access is arranged

– wisdom and discernment when interviewing volunteer computer teachers

– God’s timing in making necessary contacts and connections

– traveling mercies as there will be many miles/hours involved both by air and land

Elisabeth will be joining Wilfrid on December 27th.  Her focus will be on connecting with our sponsored children.  We will host a special Christmas Party for the sponsored children and community members.  Students from a Connecticut High School raised money through t-shirt sales and these funds will be used to provide this special event!  We’ll decorate the library in a SNOW theme- which will be a special treat.  Check back for pictures!  Please pray that God’s truth goes forth boldly through this outreach!

One way to stay connected is by visiting our FACEBOOK page and “liking” it.  Updates will appear in your Facebook feed.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas as  you celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Needed: DVDs for Weekly Film Outreach

HOPE has been blessed with a large 52 inch television.  We found a viable outreach this summer to be showing Christian movies in the evenings for the community.  Close to 200 would attend each evening!  With not much to do in the evenings and no access to electricity, this was a highlight.  We’ve decided to have weekly film nights at the library building for the community.  This requires us to have a large collection of DVDs to show.

If you have Christian DVDs or Family friendly DVDs that you’d like to donate, please contact us at:  info@hopemissioninternational.org and we will arrange mailing/pick-up.  These DVDs would need to have French language audio or French subtitles.

Thank you for partnering with us in this new venue of outreach!

Praising God!

We are praising God for a fantastic evening this past Friday at the HOPE Benefit Dinner in Canterbury.  It was a great evening of fellowship, catching up with friends and sharing about the work in Haiti.  All who helped and attended were an incredible encouragement to our Board members.  We appreciated the generosity of our guests both in financial and prayer support.  A number also decided to commit to sponsoring children and we are grateful!

We will be able to use the funds raised to date to begin completing a number of tasks necessary to open the HOPE Computer Training Center by January, 2012.  We will build a portion of the security fence, install internet via satellite and purchase a few laptops.  Pray as the next few weeks will involve a lot of coordination to put these items in motion.

If you were not able to attend, but would like to contribute to this phase and our goal of $12,000 by the end of December, please mail your donation to the address below or make a donation online.

More books headed to Haiti!

Praising God for another shipment of books ready to head to Haiti for the HOPE Community Library.

Perhaps you have some books you’d like to donate?  We can use any French/Creole/Spanish books as well as easy-to-read English Children’s books.  Bilingual dictionaries and ESL materials are excellent too!  Also, materials that teachers can use such as picture books, posters and other educational aids are a great addition.

If you are interested in helping, contact info@hopemissioninternational.org and we’ll work out the details with you.
